West End Inn Bed and Breakfast Portland Maine
Portland Maine West End Inn Bed and Breakfast
Designed in the Second Empire style and built on speculation
by John T. Hull. Originally purchased by Freedom Nash,
a stove dealer in Portland, Maine.

Portland, Maine's most cosmopolitan city, is blessed with a level of cultural attractions normally associated with a city many times its size. In the heart of this diverse peninsula lies the West End Inn. Located in the Western Promenade Historic District, this Georgian style brick townhouse, built in 1871, is one of a collection of Victorian-era homes, all reflecting a wealth of architectural detail.

Comfort and quiet elegance has been accomplished in restoring the West End Inn, consciously creating an oasis within the city. The Inn's quiet location and six comfortable bedrooms, each with a private bath, invite a good night's sleep. Guests enjoy a full breakfast in the eastern-facing dining room with its twelve-foot decorative ceilings, while afternoon tea is available in the comfortable adjoining library with a fireplace.

The Inn's residential location provides the best of all worlds: convenience to the downtown - the Arts District and Portland Museum of Art, Public Market, Old Port, Ferry, Civic Center and Financial District - while offering a refuge and an opportunity for quieter contemplation and a walk on the Olmstead-designed Promenade. The Inn's services and staff combine New England sensitivity to value with a flair for gracious hospitality.
